HEDS has developed through several course iterations. Each iteration has contributed new experiences, materials and ideas that have informed the continuing development of the course.

The links below provide access to previous HEDS course environments. They offer a glimpse of how the course structure, topics and learning activities have evolved over time.

Please note that older course sites reflect the design and organisation of that particular iteration. Some links, tools or activities may therefore no longer correspond to the current HEDS course.

Earlier HEDS iterations

HEDS 2026

HEDS 2026 marked a shift towards a more process-oriented PBL design. Individual reflections became part of the learning within the PBL group, feeding into collective reflection and the questions and insights brought to the concluding cohort discussion. The reduced emphasis on producing a common group product created more space for dialogue and inquiry, while also highlighting the importance of clear facilitation and support for the group process.

HEDS 2025

The 2025 iteration further developed the five-topic course structure and the balance between common course activities, PBL group inquiry and individual reflection. The archived course is identified as HEDS251 in Canvas.

HEDS 2024

HEDS 2024 continued the development of the course following the first full iteration, with participants and contributors from several higher education institutions.

HEDS 2023

HEDS 2023 was the first full course iteration following the pilot and the initial development work.

HEDS pilot 2022

The first HEDS pilot was carried out in 2022 and provided experience that helped shape the first full course iteration. Earlier planning and course-development material from the pilot is preserved within the HEDS collaboration, although we do not currently have a verified public course link to include here.

Learning across iterations

HEDS is continuously revised on the basis of participant experience, facilitator reflection, course evaluation and collaborative development work.

An important part of this development is continuity across course iterations. Former participants may return as facilitators, topic contributors or collaborators in later iterations, bringing experience from previous HEDS learning groups into the continued development of the course.

The archive therefore documents not only earlier courses, but part of the ongoing development of HEDS.
